Welcome to my photography page!
I am a landscape and wildlife photographer based on the Oregon Coast, primarily the southern Oregon Coast. I retired from my career as a truck driver in 2019 and the very day I retired I moved to the Oregon Coast and have been here ever since! My Wife Jillian and I live full time in our comfortable Class A Beaver motor home with our two kitties our little Papillon dog. We are volunteers for Oregon State Parks for 6 years now and as such we get to live in some of the most beautiful parks in Oregon for extended periods of time. Being able to stay at these beautiful parks for several months at a time allows me the time to wander and explore at my leisure, rarely does a day pass that I don’t get out into nature with my trusty Canon. The greatest thing for me about RV living is that we in fact have the privilege of living immersed in nature, all I have to do is step out my door. We absolutely love the beauty of the Oregon Coast so most of the year we can be found wandering the coast border to border in our motorhome, but occasionally we venture inland when the weather and temperatures suit us.
I am a life long Oregonian and have dabbled in photography most of my life. I grew up in nature in the backwoods mountains of Myrtle Creek, Oregon with no running water, no indoor plumbing, and our only source of heat and cooking were wood burning stoves. Milking cows, churning butter and chopping firewood were my only before and after school activities. This is probably why I feel most at home in nature and around animals, and why I’ve always been a bit of a loner and an introvert. I still remember getting my first camera, a Kodak 110 film camera! I just thought it was the greatest thing ever, I had so much fun with that little camera! I got my first SLR camera in my 20’s from a Sears catalog that I used for many years until I literally wore it out.
In my 20s I briefly moved to the San Francisco Bay Area, I had a lot of fun but didn’t like city living at all, one had to drive for ours to get out in nature. I hated it, so after a couple years I high tailed it back to my home in Oregon and have been here ever since.
I am an amateur photographer, I don’t do this for an income or living, I do it because I enjoy it, i do it because I enjoy sharing the beauty of Oregon with you all. I also do it for my spiritual and mental wellbeing. Often if I’m just out walking for exercise its all to easy to get lost in my thoughts, that endless loop of thoughts about the state of the world, my todo list, how much my arthritis hurts…the list is endless. But when I’m carrying my camera it keeps me mindful, aware and grounded in the present moment. I’m fully present, aware of my surroundings and observing the beauty of nature in live high definition. Whenever ones mind isn’t focused on the present moment life is just simply passing by unnoticed. Whenever I’m not present in the present moment I may not even notice the chipmunk announcing my presence, the woodpecker in the tree, an eagle soaring silently overhead or the tree root in my path waiting to land me flat on my face! Without exception ALL of life happens only in the present moment. My goal is to be as present as possible to enjoy every moment as much possible, because who knows how many moments we have left. So for me hiking about in nature in this incredibly beautiful state of Oregon is very much a deeply spiritual experience and practice, a form of meditation. It is practice that I am passionate about, is deeply important to me, and one that I enjoy very much.
I currently do not have anything for sale here on my page, I created this page simply for others to enjoy! I have no desire or need to turn my photography into a job or business. However upon request I can and do sell certain images for framing, and I can print on canvas or metal shipped to your home. Contact me via email if there’s something you would like to have in your home or business space. This is a personal page where I share my photography, and a bit about our adventures as full time nomadic RV’rs on the Oregon Coast.
Thanks so much for visiting my page! Check back often as this page is a work in progress and I am adding new content regularly! Also feel free to follow my Facebook page if you don’t already where I share almost daily.☮️🙏🏼❤️
